The forward gets to make her pro dream a reality after her selection, where she’ll be united with former Pac-12 nemesis Sabrina Ionescu at the Liberty.
Onyenwere was a standout for the Bruins, a Third-team All-American selection from the USBWA and AP in her junior and senior seasons, as well as an All-Pac-12 selection for her final three seasons. The fourth-highest scorer in UCLA history, she averaged 19.1 points in 2020-21, helping the Bruins to a 2021 NCAA Tournament appearance to cap off her college career.

Onyenwere was expected to be a first-round selection this season, and so it proved to be. After a terrific NCAA career, in which her game developed and blossomed, her versatility and ability to play a few different roles should help her in her quest to play in the WNBA, hopefully for a long time. Congrats to Michaela on the selection and best of luck with the Liberty.
