A gut punch loss for the Lakers here in Atlanta, falling 134-132 in OT, after a couple late game miscues haunt them. LeBron’s 39 pts, 11 ast, 10 reb, 3 blk and AD’s 38 pts, 10 reb, 8 ast, 2 blk isn’t enough to stop their skid as LAL’s leaders also combined for 10 turnovers. – 10:25 PM

More on this storyline
Brad Rowland: The Lakers just announced that LeBron James is going to play. (As he is still warming up) -via Bluesky / December 6, 2024
An uncomfortable question is brewing in Los Angeles: Why are the Lakers so much worse whenever LeBron James touches the court? For more than two decades, the mere presence of James has guaranteed his team competitive — nay, dominant — minutes. Now, he and the Lakers (12-10) can’t figure it out, a query that continued into Wednesday night, when the Miami Heat mauled them for their sixth loss in eight games. The numbers have become impossible to hide, even if James’ all-time-great status grants him deserved leeway. The Lakers are now 21.4 points per 100 possessions worse when James is on the court this season, according to Cleaning the Glass. And even if that chasm feels cavernous just from the looks of it, the raw stat still isn’t providing enough context. -via New York Times / December 6, 2024
This has never happened before. For much of James’ career, that figure hasn’t been just in the positives; it’s been at or near the top of the league. His former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, had seasons when they were 15-17 points better with James in games. Even in his less impactful campaigns, his teams were significantly better with him. Now, the metrics paint the opposite picture. It’s not like there is one particular lineup dragging down James’ stats. No other Lakers player has an on-off rating worse than minus-6.5, 3 1/2 times better than James’. -via New York Times / December 6, 2024
Brad Rowland: Trae Young (right Achilles tendinitis) is available to play for the Hawks tonight. He was listed as probable originally… as he has been every game since the team was fined $100,000. -via Bluesky / December 6, 2024
At this point, the Hawks value three-time All-Star Trae Young more than other teams around the league. Although Young leads the NBA in assists this season, the 26-year-old’s field goal percentage has been the worst of his career, and his three-point percentage and scoring are only slightly above his rookie season production. Teams across the league also cite Young’s shortcomings as a defender due to his size and whether you can advance far in the playoffs with him as one of your highest-paid stars, given the new collective bargaining agreement. -via HoopsHype / December 2, 2024
Lauren L. Williams: For tomorrow’s game vs. New Orleans: Bogdan Bogdanovic (right hamstring; injury management) is probable. Trae Young (right Achilles tendinitis) is probable. Cody Zeller (not with team) is out. -via Twitter @WilliamsLaurenL / December 1, 2024
