Today was one to remember for Savannah James and her entire family.
The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th overall pick of the second round of the NBA Draft, making him and his father LeBron James the first father-son duo in league history.
Bronny celebrated the moment with his family. The former McDonald’s All-American and USC guard became visibly emotional after his name was called.
As Savannah gave her son a Lakers hat to put on, she simultaneously used a white handkerchief to dab her tears of joy.

While some were critical of the Lakers using draft capital on LeBron’s son, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski defended the move.
“I don’t want to hear the charges, people talking about nepotism. The NBA is full of nepotism,” Wojnarowski said during ESPN’s draft coverage on Thursday afternoon.
“The ownership level, front offices, coaching. I don’t want to hear about it all of a sudden because Bronny James’ father plays for the Lakers. It is rampant in this league.”
Bronny James joins Tennessee wing Dalton Knecht as new Lakers selected in this year’s draft. Los Angeles picked the sharpshooting Knecht 17th overall in the first round on Wednesday night.
We should see Bronny’s debut in an LA uniform in the upcoming NBA Summer League next month.
