Despite LeBron James being his biggest client, Rich Paul says he has zero clue about his decision this summer.
Name a more iconic duo in recent years than LeBron James and making an offseason decision as to whether he will be playing basketball for the Lakers.
LeBron has a $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 NBA season, but during his exit interview, he was noncommittal on his future in Los Angeles. He has until June 29 to decide on his option, so buckle up for another month or so of comments, but no decision on LeBron’s future.
Klutch Sports founder and LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul recently went on “The Rich Eisen Show” and toed the company line as he claimed to have no clue what his most important client will be doing next year.
“I have no idea, zero… Right now, I’m really focused on this draft. Normally our process is, kind of weigh everything and see how he’s feeling and all those type of things… We know he’s dealing with the knee thing. Same process it’s been for the last I don’t know how many years. Then we have some other free agents and so on and so forth. He’ll come around to what he’s thinking at some point and we’ll kind of go over some things and go from there.”
Things can always change, and while no decision has officially been made, saying he has zero idea whatsoever is a bridge Paul can sell to someone else.
If he’s not talking to his biggest client about his future, what else are they discussing?
Are they looking up vacation spots? Sharing ideas for the kind of tacos they’ll eat for Taco Tuesday? Perhaps Paul and James are knocking out some summer reading and basketball is not being discussed despite LeBron playing it professionally for over half his life.
LeBron currently has many options on the table. While it’s likely true that he hasn’t fully settled on one, color us skeptical of Paul knowing anything about which way he is currently leaning.
