Quincy Olvari ‘thankful’ for shoe deal with Steph Curry, Under Armor

Quincy Olivari recently cashed in on his incredible story and start in Los Angeles with an endorsement deal with Under Armor, something he expressed gratitude for recently.

Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari has quickly gone from a player fans didn’t know on Media Day to one they can’t stop rooting for.

He started the summer on an Exhibit-10 deal and performed so well in preseason and in training camp that he made the Lakers roster. He recently cashed in on all of this by signing an endorsement deal with Steph Curry’s stand-alone venture with Under Armor, Curry Brand.

The rookie, who is on a two-way deal, made his NBA debut for the Lakers in Sunday’s matchup against the Blazers. He scored his first points in the win, and after the game, he spoke about the big deal he had recently inked.

“I tell people from Under Armor,” Olivari said, “I tell Steph and I tell my associates like, ‘I’m very thankful for everything that y’all have done for me. I’m very thankful for y’all believing in me, too, because y’all believe that I can represent the brand in a positive light.’ And I don’t take that lightly because (A) it’s Steph’s brand, but (B) I’m on a contract that’s non-guaranteed.

“So y’all see that you believe that I can be something greater than what I already am.”

The fact that Olivari is now partnering with his NBA idol, Steph Curry, is awesome and unique.

Currently, the only other player to sign to the Curry Brand is Sacramento Kings player De’Aaron Fox. No offense to Olivari, but Fox is a much bigger star than him, so the fact that Under Armor and Curry are backing Olivari as their second person to join the Curry Brand is amazing.

Olivari is an easy guy to root for and him getting these kinds of sponsorship deals is well deserved.

He’s earned everything he’s gotten and has consistently outperformed expectations. Olivari is dominating the G League with the South Bay Lakers. And players like D’Angelo Russell think he’s already above that level of competition.

It’ll be hard for him to play with the Lakers consistently this season, but as a two-way player, he is doing his job playing in the G League and coming up when needed with the main team, just like he did in Sunday’s win.
