Potential Trade Suitor For Lakers Star LeBron James Has Emerged

December 13, 2024 by The Spun

Here’s A Look Inside LeBron James’ Los Angeles Mansion (1:14)

For two years now, the Golden State Warriors have been keeping an eye on LeBron James’ situation with the Lakers. And according to one NBA insider, the Dubs will “definitely” be ready in the unlikely event that the 20-time All-Star requests a trade out of LA.

Appearing on Wednesday morning’s “Get Up” on ESPN, Brian Windhorst laid out Golden State’s thought process and how a lot of this is up to LeBron himself.

“The Warriors have dreamed of pairing LeBron with Steph Curry and Draymond Green since last year,” Windhorst explained. “They’ve made an inquiry and it got shut down last February. That was before LeBron played with Steve Kerr and Steph Curry and won the gold medal over the summer.”

“So, they will definitely monitor the situation, and I don’t think they do anything without knowing this door is locked,” he continued. “But I would just say with LeBron, it’s up to him. He has a no-trade clause and he has given no indication he wants the Lakers to do anything but upgrade the roster they’ve got, not that he wants to go anywhere.”

James was asked about the potential of teaming up with Curry back in October during the Lakers’ training camp and he didn’t exactly dismiss the notion. Telling reporters, “I have no idea” when asked about the possibility of he and Steph playing together again.

As Windy said, if anything is going to happen LeBron will have to sign-off on it. And with his son, Bronny, just being drafted to the Lakers this year it doesn’t seem like that’s something he’d be willing to give up.

But if the Lakers continue to fall in the Western Conference standings, maybe the King gets to a point where he wants to play meaningful, championship-level basketball for (potentially) the last time in his career — and he can bring his son with him.
