The Lakers will now play their previously postponed game against the Hornets on Feb. 19 and the NBA will reschedule Lakers vs. Spurs at a later time.
Due to the wildfires that have impacted many throughout Los Angeles County, the NBA postponed two Lakers games, their contest versus the Hornets and their matchup against the Spurs.
The Clippers also had to postpone a game due to the wildfires and the Atlanta Hawks had one game canceled due to weather issues.
The league has now announced scheduling changes to make up and accommodate these postponed games.
The postponed matchup between the Lakers and Hornets will now be played on Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. PT. The Lakers will host the Jazz on Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. PT, replacing their previously scheduled matchup versus Utah that was slated for Feb. 11.
The only other game that needs to be rescheduled for the Lakers is their matchup versus the Spurs, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 11. The NBA says that the details for this contest will be announced at a later date.
As part of the NBA’s schedule adjustments, the Lakers’ postponed home game against Charlotte originally scheduled for Jan. 9 has been rescheduled for Feb. 19.

While there is still a lot of basketball to play, the NBA had to reschedule these games quickly. The season is almost halfway done and with the All-Star break in February, there isn’t much open space to move and change so many games.
The Feb. 19 Hornets game will now be the first game of a back-to-back for the Lakers, who are scheduled to play the Blazers at home the following night.
The NBA, however, did not add an extra back-to-back to the Lakers’ schedule. The changing of the Utah game from Feb. 11 to Feb. 10 means they will not have a back-to-back versus Utah as previously scheduled. Instead, the Lakers will get a day off in between games.
The only other Lakers game left for the NBA to reschedule is the team’s matchup versus the Spurs.
It will be tough for the league to find a homestand to add another game to, given that the long stretches where they are playing in Los Angeles already have back-to-backs or games every other night.
Perhaps the NBA will have to make Lakers vs. Spurs a back-to-back somewhere in March or April and reschedule another game to avoid the Lakers having more back-to-backs to play.
That’s the approach the league took with rescheduling the Hornets game, so we’ll see what solutions they have for the Lakers vs. Spurs matchup.
