This afternoon, a new statue memorializing Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna was unveiled outside Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The latest statue is the second of three planned monuments to honor Kobe and Gigi and was revealed in a small, private ceremony.
X/Twitter user @LADEig was present and captured a closeup photo of the artwork, which recreates a famous photo of Kobe and Gigi sitting courtside at a Lakers-Mavericks game in December 2019, a month before their tragic deaths in a helicopter crash.
In the image that inspired the statue, Kobe, wearing an orange WNBA hoodie and green Philadelphia Eagles skullcap, leans over to give his daughter a kiss on the head.
Gianna is outfitted in a black button down shirt and yellow Nike leggings.

Have to admit, this is incredible. It’s tough not to get choked up looking at it.
The first statue dedicated to Kobe was unveiled back on February 8. Today is August 2, and the 2/8/24 and 8/2/24 date lines are significant, as they contain both of Kobe’s NBA numbers (8 and 24) and Gianna’s No. 2.
The third statue will feature Kobe wearing his No. 24 Lakers uniform, the legendary guard’s widow Vanessa previously revealed.
Meanwhile, fans who wish to visit the latest tribute are able to do so as early as Saturday.
