The Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to draft Bronny James may do more than just satisfy LeBron James for a single year.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, NBA insider Shams Charania predicted that the drafting of Bronny James could very well invigorate his father’s entire basketball career. He believes that if Bronny signs a guaranteed contract with the Lakers, he can envision LeBron playing two or even three more years with the team.
“I do expect (Bronny James) to sign a guaranteed contract that keeps him on the active roster for the Lakers… You would assume that at some point this season he’s going to be on the floor, with his dad. And at the end of the day, I would expect one to two more years for LeBron James. Could he play a third season? Of course I think that’s well within his rights and well within his body…” Charania said.
NBA fans have admonished the Lakers for using valuable draft capital on Bronny James for a litany of reasons ranging from cries of nepotism to Bronny’s lack of accomplishments to everything in between.
LeBron has always wanted to play alongside his son and now he finally has that chance.
And by the looks of things, LeBron is happy to extend his career if it means getting to watch his son develop on the court with him.
