Going into Saturday night’s action, the Los Angeles Lakers were riding high on the back of an eight-game win streak.
But now it appears they left the TD Garden with more than one loss in their 111-101 defeat at the hands of the Boston Celtics.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, LeBron James suffered a groin injury in yesterday’s primetime matchup that could sideline him for “weeks.”
“It is too early to project an accurate timetable for how long LeBron James could miss because of his left groin injury, sources told ESPN. However one source said the initial thought is that it will sideline James for a matter of weeks, not a matter of days,” McMenamin shared to X.
“LeBron James said his mind immediately went to his groin injury Christmas Day 2018 when he felt a pop in his groin and missed significant time. James said he does not believe this injury is as bad as that one, and then knocked on the wooden locker behind him to not jinx it.”

Fans immediately began to worry on social media.
“I really hope it’s nothing like that 2018 one,” a user prayed.
“We are indeed cooked,” a Lakers fan said.
“[Expletive] man. Just when things were going well.”
“Lakers have 3 back-to-backs and 8 total games in the next 2 weeks alone,” Daniel Starkand noted.
“WHAT DID WE DO TO MAKE THE BASKETBALL GODS HATE US,” another person asked.
“LeBron has made an All-NBA Team 20 years in a row. That streak is now in danger,” Sam Quinn pointed out. “James has only played 58 games this season. Depending on how many weeks we’re talking, the 65-game awards minimum is no longer a guarantee.”
“those 2 weeks where we thought we were contenders was so fun.”
It’s definitely tough to hear but hopefully once LA’s training staff gets a look at it we can get a more clear picture on the severity of the injury.
LeBron finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists before exiting midway through the fourth quarter.
