Saturday night’s Luka Doncic trade changed things in a major way for both the Lakers and Mavericks, but it sounds like LeBron James is willing to stick it out in LA.
In the aftermath of Rob Pelinka dealing Anthony Davis to Dallas in exchange for the reigning NBA scoring champion, some floated the idea that James was growing frustrated with AD — which the King quickly shut down. Calling it a “fkn lie!!!” on social media.
Now according to insider Chris Haynes, LeBron plans on staying with the Purple and Gold past Feb. 6’s trade deadline.
“League sources informed me that LeBron James intends to remain a member of the Los Angeles Lakers past the February 6 trade deadline,” Haynes reported. “So even though the Lakers were able to pull off one of the biggest trades in recent history by acquiring Luka Doncic and moving AD to Dallas, LeBron James plans to stay with the Lakers.”

Fans reacted to LeBron’s decision across social media.
“Watching LeBron and Luka try to mesh is going to be interesting,” a user said.
“And there ya have it,” another replied. “Get ready for another move to build around bron and luka.”
“Let’s rock then,” a fan commented.
“This trade just aint as dumb or lopsided as folks trying to make it seem. Lol once you get over the name ‘Luka’ & think about basketball & potentially relationships etc behind the scenes, its a win-win especially for what could come for BOTH team moving forward,” another user claimed. “Strap up!”
“‘I guess I’ll stay’ after getting a 25 year old superstar. Okay dude.”
“For those who want to put LeBron James into the trade machine, don’t,” another person posted.
“Of course … He isn’t brain dead like Nico Harrison,” a Dallas fan said.
Some wondered if LeBron would want to remain with LA without a championship contending roster in 2025. But even though it’s a move for the future, who’s to say the Lakers can’t still compete once they get familiar with their new superstar.
