After his agent said that he wouldn’t go to any team that didn’t offer him a real NBA contract, Bronny James reportedly signed with the Lakers for four years, $7.9 million this week — with a team option on the fourth year.
Los Angeles selected Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the second round, pairing the former USC guard with his dad and making them the first father-son duo in league history.
When word got out about the contract figures, NBA fans definitely quickly got to talking:
“The best privilege we have in society is ‘green privilege,'” Aaron Torres said. “In other words, you come from money, you have access to the systems to help make more of it. From schools to advisors and more. Can’t blame Bronny for taking advantage like thousands have before him.”
“I’m in the wrong business,” Mark Regalado replied.
“Yeah Dan Hurley 100% didn’t want to deal with this,” a user commented.
“A 4 year contract for the 55th pick? GOT DAMN! Lebron’s pull is different.”
“This can’t be real,” a fan tweeted.
“This is just flat out embarrassing I’m sorry the Lakers are gonna be horrible in 3 years,” another person predicted.

It certainly helps to be the son of LeBron James. But now Bronny gets the chance to show that he’s his own man and prove why he was worth the Lakers’ pick outside of the narratives.
