Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is known for stating the obvious on social media. On Thursday night, however, he decided to branch out and talk politics.
Johnson, a five-time NBA champion, made it pretty clear that he supports Vice President Kamala Harris. The Hall of Famer said she has a “real vision” for the future of the United States.
“Vice President Kamala Harris was outstanding in her CNN interview tonight,” Johnson said. “She has a real vision for the country.”
This isn’t the first time Johnson has supported the Democratic Party. During the Democratic National Convention earlier this month, he spoke highly of former President Barack Obama.
It wasn’t until Johnson raved about Harris that he started getting backlash on social media.
“She’s failed for 3.5 years…,” one person said. “What makes you believe this vision, which is the same failed policy of this administration she’s a part of, would bring this country to a better place.”
Another person replied, “What’s the vision? Be specific.”
“She wants to tax you on unrealized gains. Please research this,” a third person tweeted.
Johnson has not responded to these comments. He’s not obligated to, of course.
With the election only a few months away, it certainly sounds like Johnson will be voting for Harris.
