There’ll be plenty of pressure on Luka Doncic to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Minnesota Timberwolves during the first round of the playoffs, make no mistake about it.
The Lakers acquired Doncic with the hope that he’ll be the face of the franchise for years to come. Although they were blown out by the Timberwolves in Game 1, the All-Star guard did everything he could on the offensive side of the floor. He had 37 points in the team’s 117-95 loss.
Doncic came out with a vengeance in the first quarter of Game 2, dropping 16 points on the Timberwolves.
While the spotlight was on Doncic throughout the Lakers-Timberwolves game, he seemed to be sharing it with his mother, Mirjam Poterbin.

Doncic’s mother has been by his side throughout his NBA career. When he got trade to the Lakers, she made the move with him to Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, Mirjam turned heads in her son’s No. 77 Lakers jersey. She wore it for Doncic’s return to Dallas.
Mirjam Poterbin has become a fan favorite in the NBA community. She currently has over 74,000 followers on Instagram.
Prior to giving birth to Doncic in 1999, Mirjam was a model and dancer. She was also the host of the Slovenian version of “Wheel of Fortune.” Once she had Luka, she focused on her own beauty salon.
“I was lucky to have my own salon, that I could order clients only while Luka was in kindergarten or at school, but otherwise we spent all the time together,” she said, via PEOPLE.
As soon as Luka’s basketball career took off, Mirjam became his manager. It’s safe to say he hasn’t had any regrets about that decision.
