The spotlight was firmly on Luka Doncic on Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Lakers squared off against the Dallas Mavericks. After all, it was a revenge game for the All-Star guard.
Doncic was traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers earlier this month in one of the most shocking deals in NBA history. Though he struggled from the field last night, he still had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists in a win for Los Angeles. During his postgame press conference, he admit that he dealt with mixed emotions leading up to tipoff.
“It was just a lot of emotions and not much sleep,” Doncic said. “I can’t even explain [it]. It was a different game. Sometimes I don’t know what I was doing. And I’m just glad it’s over, honestly.”
As Doncic was competing on the hardwood Tuesday night, his mother was turning heads in the crowd.
Doncic’s mother, Mirjam Poterbin, has managed his off-court business affairs since he was 13 years old. She moved to the United States in 2018 when her son got drafted.

Prior to tipoff between the Mavericks and Lakers, Doncic’s mother shared a photo of her sporting an L.A. jersey outside of Crypto.com Arena.
Countless NBA fans raved about Mirjam’s appearance, saying she looks “perfect’ in a Lakers jersey.
“We are all so proud of him! You look good in this jersey,” one fan said.
“Beautiful!! Enjoy this new chapter!! We are cheering him on no matter where he is,” another fan wrote.
Mirjam will remain by her son’s side even now that he’s playing in Los Angeles. With that said, she’ll probably go viral at least a few more times before this season ends.
The Lakers are now 3-2 with Doncic in their starting lineup. He’ll be back on the hardwood Thursday night for a showdown with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
As of right now, Los Angeles is in fourth place in the Western Conference.
