Luka Doncic has scored 92 points through the first two games of the Los Angeles Lakers’ season as he followed up his 43-point game on opening night against the Golden State Warriors with a 49-point effort in their win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
Doncic broke Jerry West’s 56-year franchise record of 81 points through the first two game of a season.
“I wish we won the first game, but obviously it’s a good comeback,” Doncic said. “I think Minnesota is a great team. We had to do a lot to win today. But myself, I feel great. I want to win every game.”
“He, of course, dominates the whole game so easily,” Rui Hachimura said. “And it’s not some random team we played against. They’re a Western Conference finals team. So this is crazy.”
Austin Reaves was asked if he believes Doncic could average 40 points this season.
“Yes,” said Reaves who was then asked if Doncic could average 40 and it would help the Lakers win.
“Yes,” replied Reaves. “He’s so good, it’s weird.”
Doncic also said losing in the first round last season to the Wolves didn’t spark his performance.
“I just want to forget about last season,” Doncic said. “I was trying to move on. I don’t really think about that first-round series.”
