Luka Doncic has agreed to a three-year, $165 million max contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, reported Shams Charania of ESPN.
The deal includes a player option for 2028.
“Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka, the new owner Mark Walter have built a close rapport with Luka Doncic and his inner circle to get him to commit here. And now Luka Doncic, he’s going to be the face of this Lakers organization moving forward,” said Charania on Sportscenter.
Doncic actively recruited Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton this offseason.
“I’m really grateful to the Lakers organization, my teammates and the fans for welcoming me and my family with so much support and kindness since day one,” said Doncic in a statement. “This is an amazing organization, and I truly believe in what we’re building together. I’m going to keep working as hard as I can to bring another championship to Los Angeles and to make Laker Nation proud.”
The contract also makes Doncic eligible for a potential five-year, $417 million deal in 2028.
