Luka Doncic has decided to make a very generous donation ahead of his first start as a Los Angeles Laker.
On Monday afternoon, the 25-year-old All-NBA guard and his foundation announced that they’ll be contributing $500,000 to the city of Los Angeles in an effort to help wildfire victims build back their communities.
“It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA. I can’t believe it and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools and places where they used to play with their friends,” Doncic wrote. “Today, my foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields that were destroyed, because every kid needs a safe place to play.”
“To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul,” Luka promised.

Doncic arrived in Los Angeles via trade after 6.5 impressive seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.
For whatever reason, the Mavs decided that they no longer wanted one of the game’s best players and sent him to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a draft pick.
Luka has been out since Christmas Day with a calf strain but in the 22 games since last year’s Finals run, the Slovenian superstar is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and two steals per contest.
It’s a great gesture for Doncic to endear himself to his new neighbors by helping them in their time of need.
The LA wildfires were unbelievably devastating and many Angelenos are still reeling from the vast damage that upended their lives just several weeks ago.
