LeBron’s Favorite Song is a Testament to His NBA Journey
Tupac Shakur’s music covers an abundance of topics and issues in society, from racism and violence to pregnancy among teenagers and death. His music is never literal, but there is a deeper meaning behind the words. With that in mind, LeBron has a new favorite song by 2Pac, “Hold Ya Head”. If we look at the lyrics from the song, we can see why the NBA’s leading scorer loves it. The entire song is about surviving and grinding while bad things happen around you and people try to diminish you.
LeBron is one of the most scrutinized and criticized athletes in all of sports. Even before he made his first bucket in the NBA, he was dubbed “The Chosen One” by Sports Illustrated. He has been the face of the league for almost his entire career. For a period, he was carrying that crown alongside Kobe Bryant. From his first to his 22nd season, LeBron is one of the most popular and best players in the league. Here are some lyrics from the “Hold Ya Head” song.

LeBron’s Admiration For 2Pac Runs Deep
James has a lot of respect and admiration for Tupac Shakur. In 2017, he said that one of his biggest regrets is that he didn’t have a chance to meet the famous rapper. He wrote on X, “Man wish I had a chance to meet this guy! Unbelievable mind, passion, beyond his years!”
Tupac was killed in September 1996, when LeBron was only 11 years old (he turned 12 later in December). 2Pac was not just an incredible rapper, but also a voice for the community. Through his music, he addressed a variety of issues in society. Every year, LeBron posts about 2Pac’s death in September.
LeBron Loves 2Pac’s Music
Just a few days ago, we saw LeBron admiring 2Pac’s music. While he didn’t play against the Milwaukee Bucks, LeBron was practicing and warming up at Crypto.com Arena. And during his warmups, he was rapping to Gangsta Party, another popular song by Tupac Shakur.
There is no denying that LeBron loves hip-hop music. What is interesting is that his music taste is the complete opposite of Luka Doncic’s. The Slovenian guard, who is the future of the Los Angeles Lakers, loves Balkan music. The Lakers even played one of his favorite songs during his Debut at Crypto.com Arena.
But hey, you never debate tastes. Both LeBron and Luka get a slice of the music repertoire at the Lakers home arena.
