LeBron James is accustomed to receiving standing ovations from the crowd. That being said, Tuesday’s pop during the Brazil-United States game wasn’t for him.
With less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the crowd in Paris went nuts when French swimmer Leon Marchand was shown on the big screen.
James, who was walking over to Team USA’s bench, thought the fans were cheering for him since he returned from an injury. That wasn’t the case though.
Basketball fans couldn’t help but laugh at James’ blunder on Tuesday night.
“(Still my goat) but this is so embarrassing my lord,” one fan tweeted.
Another fan wrote, “Are you not embarrassed?”
“Dude ego is terrible…they don’t know you over there,” a third fan said.

We can somewhat understand how this mix-up happened, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a hilarious look for James.
As for Marchand, it’s easy to see why he received such a warm welcome from the crowd. He was truly remarkable at this year’ss Olympics.
Marchand, 22, won gold medals in the 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, 200m medley and 400m medley. Some people were so impressed by his performance that they compared him to the great Michael Phelps.
