A week before the 2024 presidential election, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James announced that he’s endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
James shared his political views on social media, posting this message: “What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!” His tweet included a video of Donald Trump making several controversial remarks.
Roughly 24 hours after endorsing Harris for president, James told NBA reporters that his vote has been made with his wife Savannah and daughter Zhuri in mind.
“Having a daughter, having a wife, having a mother and things of that nature, what [Kamala Harris] believes in when it comes to women’s rights, when it comes to the future with my kids and where I see our country should be, I feel like that endorsement is only right,” James said. “And c’mon, I mean, you guys know me. I damn sure wasn’t going the other way.”
With all that said, James is disappointed by the results for this year’s election. Despite not being favored in the polls, Trump has dominated Harris in the battleground states.
On Wednesday afternoon, James offered his thoughts on Trump winning the election. He posted a photo of him holding Zhuri along with a telling caption.
“HEAVY ON MY HEART & MIND THIS AM MY PRINCESS,” the four-time NBA champion wrote on Instagram. “PROMISE TO PROTECT YOU WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE AND MORE!! WE DONT NEED THEIR HELP.”
It’s safe to say LeBron isn’t thrilled about Trump returning to office.
James could end up making a few more comments about the election cycle prior to tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Lakers are 4-3 heading into this Wednesday’s game.
Judging by James’ recent social media activity, he’s not that concerned about his career on the hardwood at the moment.
