Nine months after the last episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast premiered, LeBron James is back with a renewed version of the show. With JJ Redick taking over as the Los Angeles Lakers coach, which sparked speculation about James helping his podcast co-host land that job, the four-time NBA champion welcomed a two-time NBA MVP as his new partner.
A 58-second teaser shared on X on Wednesday shows James sitting and drinking with Phoenix Suns icon Steve Nash. The clip showed Nash inquiring about mid-season trades, while James joked about helping him get a new job similar to Redick.
“Real quick,” James said. “If he gets a head-coaching job, because, whatever, we didn’t talk about this beforehand, guys. But, two great minds, though. Once again.”

This announcement came a little over a year after the first episode of the show aired (March 19, 2024). James and Redick turned a lot of heads with their chemistry and basketball knowledge, but it all came to an end as the Lakers started looking for a new head coach to replace Darvin Ham. Redick has taken the Lakers to the fifth spot in the West standings (43-28), with real chances to clinch the No. 2 seed.
Experienced coaches like James Borrego and UConn’s helmsman Dan Hurley were in the mix before Redick signed with the Lakers amid doubts and concerns regarding his lack of coaching experience at any level.
Steve Nash had a similar debut in the league as a head coach. His first and so far only NBA team was the Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, later joined by James Harden. He was dismissed in 2022 and hasn’t found a new coaching opportunity since.
