LeBron James, who has played in the most playoff games in NBA history (including the most Game 1s), chalked it up as a costly entry fee for his team to know what to expect in the series. “Maybe it took us one playoff game to now get a feel for it and know what type of intensity, the type of physicality is going to be brought to the game,” James said after finishing with 19 points. “But that’s just the way they play. So we should be more than prepared for that on Tuesday night [in Game 2].”

Lakers not named Luka/Bron/Austin scored 7 points after halftime tonight vs Timberwolves
2 of those points were a Vando tip-in after Naz Reid was face down on the baseline
The other 5 came from Dalton Knecht in garbage time – 11:12 PM

Today was the 34th Game 1 that LeBron James played at home
It’s the first time out of those 34 games that James’ team was outscored by more than 15 points in James’ minutes
Timberwolves outscored Lakers by 22 points in the 36:15 that James was on the floor – 11:10 PM

The Lakers built a team, even if it was on the fly, around shot-creation. It’s just not plausible to expect to win playoff games scoring 95 points with this roster. LeBron and Austin have to be better. – 11:08 PM

The Lakers trailed by 27 but have shown some life, cutting it to 88-71 after LeBron just scored in transition. The fans are back in it with 2:03 remaining in the 3rd Q. Meanwhile, the Wolves have already tied a franchise record for 3s in a postseason game, going 18-for-32. – 10:28 PM

Three straight 3’s for Minnesota pushed them to 8 of 15 thus far, producing a 47-34 lead. The latter two both came off blocks at the rim on LeBron drives, resulting in transition looks.
Hachimura’s 3 out of a time out trimmed the margin back to 10. – 9:36 PM

Lakers are shooting 4-of-18 on 2’s and they’ve only attempted seven free throws. They’re getting nothing easy and only in this game at all because they’re making 3’s. Luka’s done his part. Time for LeBron and Austin to do theirs. – 9:36 PM

Do you feel responsible for the “superteam” trend after you got LeBron James and Chris Bosh to join you in Miami? Dwyane Wade: Not responsible for a superteam. Maybe responsible for players getting together and making a decision. I don’t know what was done that preceded us. We definitely watched Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. We definitely watched Magic Johnson play with many great Hall of Fame players. We watched Larry Bird, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale, and so forth. We’ve seen it before. -via HoopsHype / April 19, 2025
