LeBron James shared his thoughts on the Golden State Warriors adding Jimmy Butler to the roster ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline.
The veteran swingman had a tumultuous exit from the Miami Heat, but once that drama was past him, he focused on basketball and gave the Warriors a spark they were looking for during the first half of the season.
They are now in competition for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference standings and got closer to that goal after beating the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers in their most recent games, improving to 45-31.

During his post-game locker room talk with reporters, James was asked about Butler’s addition to the Warriors. The forward recalled that he’s witnessed the Dubs going out of their way to add high-profile names to the roster.
“I’ve been a part of them making big acquisitions to change the dynamics of the team before,” James said.
He then recalled the Warriors adding Kevin Durant the summer after they lost the NBA Finals to his Cleveland Cavaliers.
“I’ve had to go against them when they added Kevin Durant,” James added. “Jimmy Butler is great, he adds a toughness to them, he adds a championship-DNA type of guy. It’s always the same, they always figure it out, they always add someone that makes them dynamic.”

Getting to know how the Warriors play with Butler firsthand is crucial for the Lakers. Golden State is a potential playoffs opponent for the purple and gold. They showed a different face in Thursday’s game, being aggressive from the start, cashing in on the Lakers’ mistakes on both ends and moving the ball with intelligence to dominate their opponents.
The Lakers won the regular-season series 3-1, but the playoffs scenario could be different if the Warriors keep collecting wins while JJ Redick’s team remains inconsistent.
