The Lakers superstar duo of LeBron James and Luka Dončić sure sound excited about the future of the Lakers after their sale.
On Wednesday, the Buss family reportedly sold their majority ownership stake of the Lakers to Mark Walter.
The sale shocked the sports world, with the Lakers being valued at $10 billion. This news will undoubtedly be a turning point in Lakers history.
Currently, there are more questions than answers about how everything will work out. One thing that appears to clear is that LeBron James and Luka Dončić are enthusiastic about the change.
Dave McMenamin of ESPN made an appearance on SportsCenter on Wednesday night and reported that the people he’s spoken to close to the stars have indicated they are excited about the future of the franchise.
“Speaking to people close to both Luka and Lebron James, there’s excitement about this move for what it means for this team.”

While the sale of a team has far longer implications than what the current stars think, it’s good that LeBron and Luka are ecstatic about the situation.
Having your key players’ approval means the transition between majority owners can be smooth. This is especially true for Luka, who will ideally be a Laker for years to come.
We don’t have to rely on McMenamin’s words to know what Luka thinks. On Thursday morning, he tweeted out his excitement regarding Mr. Walter becoming the new owner.
He also mentioned how happy he was knowing Jeanie Buss would still be involved with the team.
The Lakers are an amazing organization. I’m looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I’m happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them…

Yes, Jeanie is expected to remain Lakers governor for “at least a number of years.”
Luka has some contract decisions to make this summer, and considering he was traded midseason with no notice, he could decide this is too much change and look to move elsewhere.
By all accounts, Luka is “widely expected” to sign a long-term deal and seems prepared to be a Laker for years to come. With Luka happy to be in Los Angeles, LeBron equally as pleased and an influx of new money thanks to Mr. Walter, this new era of Lakers basketball could be the best yet.
We’ve already seen Walter take the Dodgers from a mess to World Series Champions and now he can try to do the same with the Lakers.
Having Luka and LeBron on board is a great way to start.
