When you think of some of the all-time great physical specimens in sports history the mind has to go to guys like Bo Jackson, Jim Thorpe, Deion Sanders and Usain Bolt. But after a superb first quarter against the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets, LeBron James seems determined to join that esteemed group.
LeBron is only a few months away from turning 40 years old and yet in the first quarter he set the tone by scoring 12 of the Lakers’ 33 points while adding a few rebounds and assists to boot. His play was so on point that by the time the second quarter came around, people were wondering if he can play for another decade or so.
“I don’t really have a valid reason LeBron couldn’t do most of what he’s doing now at age 50,” one user wrote on X.
“I think LeBron could still give you 15-20 minutes a night at 50 years old if he wanted too lol. Probably gonna be at an ALLSTAR level until 43-45,” wrote another.
“Oldest player in the league. One of 7 guys to ever make it to Year 21. 12-3-5 in the 1st quarter of his first playoff game against the defending champs and best player in the world. You’ll never see anything like this ever again,” Fox Sports’ Nick Wright wrote.
Even LeBron’s biggest hater, Skip Bayless, couldn’t help but concede that he had a good first quarter.
“Solid first quarter for the Lakers and LeBron,” the Undisputed showrunner conceded.
The game is being played on ABC. The Lakers led 33-25 after the first quarter.
