LeBron James isn’t very happy about the Los Angeles Lakers’ upcoming preseason game. The four-time NBA champion made that abundantly clear.
The Lakers have been off since last Sunday. They lost to the Phoenix Suns despite receiving a 19-point performance from James. On Thursday night, they’ll take on the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum. The idea of traveling to Milwaukee for a preseason game isn’t sitting well with “The King.”
On Wednesday afternoon, James posted this message on X: “Can someone please explain to me why we’re getting on a plane and heading to Milwaukee for 1 pre-season game!?!?”
Honestly, this is a fair complaint from James. There’s no reason why NBA teams should be traveling this far for a preseason game.
The NBA should just have teams play opponents in their division during the preseason. That would make life much easier for the players before the regular season begins.
What makes the Lakers’ preseason schedule so bizarre is that they’ll be off until Oct. 15 after they wrap up Thursday’s game. After hosting the Golden State Warriors next Tuesday, they’ll head over to the desert to take on the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 17.
The final game on the preseason schedule for the Lakers is on Oct. 18 against the Warriors. That matchup will take place in the Bay Area.
It’ll be interesting to see if the NBA responds to James’ complaint on social media.
The last thing the NBA wants is for a player as prominent as LeBron to criticize its preseason schedule. On the other hand, this may actually help the league improve its overall product.
