Basketball is of course LeBron James’ greatest passion, but the NBA legend is a fan of sports in general.
Frequently, we’ll see James give his opinions and reactions to football, baseball, soccer and other sports on his personal X/Twitter account. Tonight, James has his attention on Thursday Night Football, as well as what Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani did in this afternoon’s game.
All Ohtani did was turn in one of the greatest single-game performances in MLB history. The NL MVP candidate went 6-for-6 with three home runs, two doubles, two stolen bases, 10 RBI and four runs scored in a 20-4 Dodgers win over the Miami Marlins.
In the process, Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to post a 50/50 season. He currently has 51 home runs and 51 steals with nine games remaining.
“THIS GUY IS UNREAL!!!! WOWZERS,” James wrote on X/Twitter in regards to a post discussing Ohtani’s exploits.
James is not the only major sports figure to weigh in on Ohtani’s monster day. Patrick Mahomes called it “insane” while Joel Embiid dubbed the lefty-swinging slugger the “GOAT.”
“I’m glad that the team won,” Ohtani said postgame. “It was something that I wanted to get over as quickly as possible and you know it’s something that I’m going to cherish for a very long time.”
In his first six MLB seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani never sniffed the postseason.
This year, he’s part of a Dodgers team that will once again be a top contender in the NL playoffs. It will be fun to see Ohtani finally on MLB’s biggest stage.
