LeBron James and Bronny James have made NBA history this Tuesday night as the first father-son duo to be on a regular-season roster together.
It was announced this week that former MLB stars Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr. would be at Crypto.com Arena to witness this historic achievement. They know a thing or two about making history as a father-son duo in sports. They played for the Seattle Mariners in 1990.
“First father and son to play baseball, now first father and son to play basketball. So it’s a big deal for my dad and I to be there,” Ken Griffey Jr. said. “We made history, now we get to watch history. So that’s what’s going to be cool about it.”
Before tipoff between the Timberwolves and Lakers, the Griffeys had a nice chat with LeBron and Bronny. This wholesome moment is receiving a ton of love from the sports world.
LeBron and Bronny briefly shared time on the court during the preseason. The four-time NBA champion talked about how special that moment was for him.
“For someone who didn’t have a dad growing up, to be able to have that influence on your kids, then ultimately, to be able to work with your son, I think it’s one of the greatest things that a father could ever hope for or wish for,” LeBron said.
Whether you love him or hate him, you have to respect LeBron’s greatness and longevity. The fact that he’s playing in the league at the same time as his son is incredible.
The Lakers-Timberwolves game is currently being televised on TNT.
