On Tuesday night, LeBron and Bronny James made NBA history as the first father-son duo to play in a regular season game.
Just hours before, the two were bonded in a way they’d rather not have been: as defendants in a lawsuit. According to a new report from TMZ, LeBron and Bronny have been sued over their alleged roles in a car crash two years ago. The suit, filed yesterday in Los Angeles County court, is asking for unspecified damages.
“In the suit, April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen allege they were driving on a highway on November 13, 2022 in Littlerock, Calif. … when the Jameses slammed into them,” TMZ wrote.
“Lopez and McGillen stated in the docs they sustained injuries that will require further medical attention. They also claimed the car they were driving was damaged and has lost value due to the wreck.”
LeBron and Bronny checked into Tuesday night’s game together during the second quarter. Bronny James played three minutes, going 0-for-2 from the field including one missed three-pointer, and also grabbed one rebound.
“Hollywood couldn’t write a better script so we helped them write it and brought it to them. HISTORY WAS MADE! #JamesGang👑,” LeBron James wrote on Instagram Wednesday afternoon.
The Lakers wound up winning the game 110-103 in J.J. Redick’s head coaching debut, with LeBron scoring 16 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Los Angeles’ next game is set for this Friday night against the Phoenix Suns.
