There was recently a report that an unnamed player on the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League team said he got “very frustrated” during the Summer League because the team wanted to prioritize giving playing time to Bronny James. That claim has now been refuted by one of Bronny’s teammates.
According to the US Sun via Athlon Sports, the unnamed player said they were “never put in the best situation” or even allowed to play at times because the team “wanted Bronny to show his skills and shine.”
“I ended up being very frustrated because I was never put in the best situation, or even put in some plays or game plans because they wanted Bronny to show his skills and shine,” the player said.
While this statement obviously put more negative scrutiny on Bronny, the truthfulness of the claim has been put to the test.
Speaking to LakersNation.com, rookie Blake Hinson dismissed the statement and said he wasn’t surprised to hear someone make a claim like that. Hinson said that in his experience, Bronny was “just a normal guy” from a treatment perspective.
“No,” Hinson said. “Where is that (report) at? Honestly, you know how it is. Stuff like that doesn’t really shock me. But we need to figure out if that’s even true because to be totally honest with you, as far as his treatment, he was just a normal guy.
“He just played basketball, he really stays out of the way. He’s a cool dude. I don’t really understand how something like that came out. So that’s nonsense to me.”
“Cool dude off the court, cool dude on the court. I don’t really understand that nonsense that you just informed me about. That’s not accurate, it shouldn’t be accurate,” headded.
It would just be nice if someone were able to present some better evidence than just anonymously giving their word.
