Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the G League plan for James is for him to play in South Bay home games as he goes between the G League and the NBA. The Lakers don’t want him going on the road with South Bay.
They’re trying to develop him a bit further after selecting him in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. He has appeared in four games this season, averaging one point per game.
He scored his first NBA points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 30 before scoring again against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 6. He made his NBA debut alongside his dad, LeBron James, against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
Even though James didn’t score during that game, it was still awesome seeing him get the chance to play with his dad for the first time.
The Lakers hope that putting James in the G League will make him more polished as a player. The Lakers are off to a 4-4 start after losing to the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
LeBron led the way with 39 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. He did everything he could to try and lead the Lakers to a win.
Their next game will be against the 76ers on Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
