Just like the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers are also a team with an aging superstar and a limited Championship window. LeBron James will be 40 by the time this year comes to an end.
For his age, LeBron is exceptional. But one has to recognize that he is nowhere near his prime. He is not the best basketball player on the planet anymore.
The Lakers have not surrounded him with a roster of players that can help him to a fifth ring.
Then, there is all the discussion around drafting Bronny James and appointing JJ Redick as head coach. All put together, it feels like a recipe for disaster. Unless the Lakers decide to make a few moves.
In the article ‘4 Most Realistic NBA Stars The Lakers Could Land For First-Round Picks’ on FadeAway World, one of the names Eddie Bitar has suggested is that of Tyler Herro.
Bitar proposed a trade that would see the Lakers receive Herro for D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, 2029 First-Round Pick and 2031 First-Round Pick.
Unfortunately, this feels like a neither here nor there kind of move for the Heat.
Admittedly, Herro’s name has been brought up in a lot of hypothetical trade situations in recent months. Trading him would make sense if the Heat were bringing in a won-now talent to team up with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.
Would a return of Russell, Hachimura and two future draft picks represent that? The simple answer is no.
If the Heat are already planning for life after Jimmy Butler then it makes sense for them to stick with Herro.
Yes, his output has plateaued over the past three seasons but he is still averaging over 20 points every night and could still take another step in his development to finally take his game to the next level.
