It’s only been a few days since the NBA Finals ended but the NBA offseason is in full swing and big trades are already in the works.
The latest big trade that appears to be in the works involves Boston Celtics superstar Kristaps Porzingis. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Celtics have already been in talks with several of the dozen or so teams that are interested in him. Among the teams being mentioned are the Los Angeles Lakers, the Atlanta Hawks, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
“The next order of business in Boston is trading Kristaps Porzingis, sources said. As he enters the final year of his contract, Porzingis has drawn interest from several teams in both conferences. The Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors are a few of the 10-12 teams that have been in contact with the Celtics recently, sources said.”

Basketball fans are already expecting that the Celtics will make off like bandits in a trade. The return that the team got for Jrue Holiday certainly inspires confidence.
“Seeing how the Celtics fleeced Portland I’m wondering what the haul will be for KP… Regardless, KP has always been intriguing but his health issues have really held him back. The Lakers especially can’t risk having a non reliable center for the salary they shell out,” one user remarked.
“This worked out so well last time, surely nothing could go wrong!” another wrote, sharing a photo of Porzingis and Lakers star Luka Doncic from their Dallas Mavericks days.
“I’d take him for cheap but I’m scared Brad will finesse Rob,” another Lakers fan remarked.
“Luka and Porzingis literally disliked each other the last time they were on the same time. What’s different this time?”
“KP didn’t end well with Luka (team wise) in Dallas. Why waste on him?”
Porzingis averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game over 42 games for the Celtics in the 2024-25 season.
He’s heading into the final year of his contract and the Celtics would love to get some sort of return on him before they lose him for nothing.
Will the Lakers pick him up, or will some other team get him?
