The Los Angeles Lakers managed to get one of the NBA’s top developmental coaches to join head coach JJ Redick’s growing staff.
According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are set to hire Lindsey Harding as an assistant. She leaves the Stockton Kings, where she was recently named the G League Coach of the Year after going 24-10 in her first year at the helm.
“ESPN Sources: Lindsey Harding — the G League coach of the year — has agreed on a deal to become an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers. Harding leaves the Kings to rejoin JJ Redick, whom she spent time with on the Sixers staff and as a Duke All-American,” Woj wrote.
Harding isn’t the first or even the only woman on the Lakers’ coaching staff heading into the 2024-25 season. Former WNBA champion Shay Murphy currently serves as an assistant coach on the team as well.
Fans certainly seem excited about the move:
“shes better than darvin ham,” one user declared.
“Idk what Redick is cooking but I’ll let him cook,” wrote another.
“Actually like this for the Lakers. Their coaching staff is actually shaping up to be good,” a third wrote.
Redick’s first NBA coaching staff already consists of several coaches with decades of combined head coaching experience in Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan.
Will Redick have a successful first season with the Lakers?
