A long-enough glance at the Lakers’ schedule for the upcoming regular season, which the NBA released on Thursday afternoon, will reveal a stark pattern.
Because even though their slate is well-balanced between home and road games on a monthly basis, the Lakers’ 2025-26 regular season features lengthy clusters of them hosting games at Crypto.com Arena and playing outside of Southern California, evident by them having both the league’s longest homestand and its longest road trip in the upcoming season, according to ESPN.
The Lakers’ longest stretch of games away from their home arena will come when they play eight road games across 15 days for their annual Grammy road trip. This will include a matchup against the Clippers on Jan. 22 at the Intuit Dome, bringing the Lakers back to Southern California for a couple of days after starting the trip in Denver on Jan. 20, before a six-game trip spanning 11 days from Jan. 24-Feb. 3. They’ll be on the road for at least five consecutive games two other times: Nov. 8-Nov. 15 and March 16-25.
Their longest homestand comes immediately after the aforementioned eight-game trip, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 5 to kick off a stretch of eight consecutive games at Crypto.com Arena that is sandwiched around the All-Star break (Feb. 13-15). They have two other five-game homestands: Dec. 25-Jan. 4 and March 6-14, meaning the Lakers will play 15 of 18 games at Crypto.com Arena from Feb. 5-March 14.
As part of the schedule release, the Lakers announced that franchise legend Pat Riley will have his statue unveiled at Star Plaza when they host the Boston Celtics on Feb. 22 at Crypto.com Arena. Riley was the Lakers’ head coach for nine seasons (1981-90) during the “Showtime” era, leading the franchise to four NBA championships (1982, ’85, ’87, ’88), with two of those titles coming against the Celtics. A 2008 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Riley was part of six Lakers NBA championship teams as a player (one; 1972), assistant coach (one; 1980) and head coach.
Because of media reports and the NBA announcing portions of the schedule throughout the week, the Lakers’ Opening Week (vs. Golden State on Oct. 21; vs. Minnesota on Oct. 24; at Sacramento on Oct. 26) and Christmas Day (vs. Houston on Dec. 25) matchups were known before Thursday. So were the Lakers’ NBA Cup Group Play games: at Memphis on Oct. 31; at New Orleans on Nov. 14; vs. the Clippers on Nov. 25 and vs. Dallas on Nov. 28.
The Nov. 28 game will be former Laker Anthony Davis’ return to L.A. The star big man was injured during what was going to be his return to L.A. last season after he was sent to the Mavericks in the shocking trade for Luka Doncic.
The Lakers’ schedule shows just 80 of their 82 games with the other two games determined by their play in the NBA Cup. Those dates will either be part of the tournament’s knockout round or be scheduled against two opponents who also failed to advance.
Other notable parts of the Lakers’ 2025-26 schedule include:
• Jan. 28: at Cleveland; LeBron James returns to where he started his career and spent 11 of his unprecedented 23 seasons.
• Feb. 9: at Oklahoma City; hosting the defending NBA champion Thunder.
• The Lakers play 14 back-to-backs sets, with 11 including travel, which is up from last season when the Lakers had 13 back-to-backs but only seven involving travel.
• They have 34 games that are scheduled to be nationally televised, which is tied for the most alongside the Warriors, New York Knicks and Thunder. NBC/Peacock and Amazon (Prime Video) joined Disney’s ABC/ESPN as the league’s national broadcast partners, with Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT no longer being in the mix.
Spectrum SportsNet will be the Lakers’ exclusive regional broadcast partner for the 14th consecutive season. All games can be listened to on the team’s flagship radio station 710 AM and in Spanish on 1330 AM.
Tickets for regular-season games are scheduled to go on sale via Ticketmaster on Aug. 26 at 1 p.m.
