Former LeBron James teammate Kendrick Perkins ripped into the Los Angeles Lakers superstar after being questioned over an admission on the current state of his relationship with James.
Perkins joined the conversation as fellow ESPN colleague Stephen A. Smith responded to James’ comments during Wednesday’s installment of The Pat McAfee Show.
“Kendrick Perkins has been on the record saying he considers LeBron James the GOAT,” Smith said. “Kendrick Perkins says a negative word about LeBron James and LeBron James blocks him.
“Unfollowed,” Perkins clarified. “But let me say this, he unfollowed me and then I blocked him on my cellphone.”
X user @big_business_ questioned Perkins over his decision to block James, which sparked a strong explanation from the 2008 NBA champion.
“Yeah because I ain’t kissing his (expletive),” Perkins tweeted.
Perkins was one of the biggest James defenders in the media at some point in the past five years. Perkins’ constant praise for his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate was one of the reasons he started beefing with Skip Bayless. Then again, things are different now, as their relationship changed over time.
The Lakers superstar didn’t specifically mention Perkins in his rant against media members, but he expressed his discomfort with many folks constantly talking about him.
After several years of being on the receiving end of criticism, James clapped back at those who tried to bring him down. Instead of ending the conversation, his remarks sparked more reactions from media members who felt offended by the future Hall of Famer.
