Kelsey Plum set for return from left leg injury vs. Lynx

After missing one game due to a left leg injury, Kelsey Plum will be available for the Sparks this weekend.

The Sparks will be getting some much-needed help with Kelsey Plum returning to the lineup.

Plum missed one game due to a left leg injury, and the shorthanded Sparks were unable to earn a win in her absence.

In L.A.’s injury report for their Saturday game against the Lynx, she was no longer listed as unavailable.

In related news, the Sparks waived Grace Berger, whom they picked up during Plum’s absence as a hardship signing.

It’s great news for the Sparks that Plum only missed one game of action due to her left leg injury. When head coach Lynne Roberts was asked about Plum’s injury, there wasn’t a timeline placed on her return.

The fact that she only missed one game means this was likely not a very serious injury.

With Plum back, the Sparks now have their best player returning. She is averaging 20.9 points, 5.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She leads the team in all three categories.

It’s not just Plum’s production that helps Los Angeles. She’s also logging the most minutes on the team, playing 36 out of a possible 40.

Only Rhyne Howard averages more time on the floor in the league at 36.1 minutes per game.

With Los Angeles taking on the Lynx on Saturday, they’ll need a stellar performance from Plum to have a chance of pulling off the road upset.

Minnesota is the No. 1 team in the WNBA, having lost just one game so far this season. Los Angeles, on the other hand, is struggling to earn wins, with only four victories on the year.

With Plum back, hopefully, this is the beginning of other players for the Sparks returning from injury.

Odyssey Sims is currently out for personal reasons, Cameron Brink has begun doing on-court work and Julie Allemand will return once she’s done playing in the Women’s EuroBasket competition.

Until then, Plum and the Sparks will strive to secure wins wherever possible and hope that their health improves as the season progresses.
