The Sparks have ruled Kelsey Plum out for Tuesday’s game against the Storm and have no timetable for her return.
The Sparks continue to deal with a bevy of injuries during the early parts of the WNBA season.
With Cameron Brink, Rae Burrell, Odyssey Sims and Jullie Allemand all already out, Kelsey Plum was added to the list of unavailable players on Monday’s injury report.
6/17 Sparks Game Status Report vs. Seattle Storm:
#0 – Odyssey Sims – NWT – Personal Reasons
#10 – Kelsey Plum – OUT – Left Lower Leg
#12 – Rae Burrell – OUT – Right Knee
#20 – Julie Allemand – NWT – Overseas Commitment
#22 – Cameron Brink – OUT – Left Knee— LA Sparks PR (@LASparksPR) June 17, 2025
During head coach Lynne Roberts’ pregame press conference ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Storm, she provided an update on Plum’s injury, though it did little to clarify things.
“It’s a lower leg issue,” Roberts said. “She had imaging done Sunday and, at this point, we don’t know. One thing about KP is she does rehab and recovery and she’s so tuned into her body, she’ll know when she’s ready to go and she’s not ready tonight. So, I don’t know, but that’s going to be on her and the medical team to figure out when she’ll be back.”
Having no timetable for Plum’s return is concerning. She has started in every matchup for the Sparks and is averaging a team-high 36 minutes per game. Replacing her playing time, given the team’s limited options, and still winning games will be a challenge for Roberts and the Sparks.
Plum has been the best player for the Sparks this year. She’s averaging 20.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, which are career numbers for the seven-year veteran. Her pairing with Dearica Hamby in particular has been noticeably effective and a central part of L.A.’s offensive identity.
In response to Plum’s availability being unknown, Los Angeles signed Indiana University alum Grace Berger to the team on Tuesday morning via a rest-of-season hardship contract.
Berger played for the Indiana Fever in her first two seasons, averaging 3.9 points in her 47 games with the team. She was signed by the Lynx over the offseason but was waived at the end of training camp.
Hopefully, this injury will not be an extended period of time where the Sparks will be playing without Plum. L.A. has started the season 4-8 and needs to start stacking up wins if they want to end their four-year playoff drought.
