The Los Angeles Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs 125-109 at Crypto.com Arena on Monday. Austin Reaves was the star of the show as he put up 30 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals to lead the Lakers to a comfortable win, but it was Jarred Vanderbilt and Jeremy Sochan who ended up center stage at the end of the game.
In the fourth quarter, Vanderbilt was guarding Sochan in the post on a play when he inexplicably decided to shove him. A frustrated Sochan threw the ball at Vanderbilt in retaliation, and all hell nearly broke loose afterward. A furious Vanderbilt shoved Sochan, and players and officials had to get between the two to defuse the situation.

Both Vanderbilt and Sochan were ejected over this incident. Vanderbilt finished the game with two points, one rebound and one assist off the bench. Sochan, meanwhile, had 15 points, three rebounds and one assist to his name.
Their ejections had no real impact on the outcome of the game, with the Lakers leading 107-93 at that stage. They kept the Spurs at arm’s length the rest of the way to come away with their second win in a row.

While Vanderbilt’s ejection didn’t hurt the Lakers here, he might want to keep his temper in check. He has racked up four technical fouls this season, and the Lakers do not need this to become a habit moving forward.
