Having invited LeBron James to the White House for several of his NBA title wins, Barack Obama and the NBA icon have probably gotten to know each other fairly well.
Ahead of the U.S. Presidential Election on Tuesday, LeBron took to X and shared a video explaining that he will be supporting Kamala Harris for President. His post included a video with numerous clips and scathing headlines about Donald Trump, sending the message that he believes Trump is bad for the United States and fears that he is a danger to his family’s future.
“What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!” LeBron posted on Thursday.
Obama saw LeBron’s message and thanked him for his support. He called on his 131 million followers on X to “Listen to LeBron” and make sure that they vote next week.
“Thank you @KingJames for using your voice to make clear what’s at stake. Listen to LeBron, make sure you vote,” he wrote.

LeBron hasn’t exactly been buddies with Trump through the years. He’s rarely had a kind word to say about the 45th President and famously called him a “bum” for rescinding his White House invitation to Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors after an NBA title win.
Through the years, LeBron has accused Trump of using sports to divide people and declared that he would never sit across from him.
Naturally, Trump has had some pretty harsh words for LeBron too, posting on social media in 2018 that journalist Don Lemon “made LeBron look smart, which isn’t easy to do.”
LeBron has supported Democratic candidates in at least four of the last five Presidential Election. He supported Obama’s first Presidential campaign in 2008, Hilary Clinton’s campaign in 2016, Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020 and now Harris’ 2024 campaign.
The Presidential Election is only four days away.
