The Los Angeles Lakers revealed on Friday that rookie guard Bronny James will wear No. 9 for the 2024-25 season.
Most NBA fans are convinced Bronny picked No. 9 because it’s an upside down version of his father’s old jersey number.
“He really picked an upside down 6,” one fan said.
Another fan tweeted, “9 is 6 upside down…….meaning LeBron career is upside down & Bronny is coming to take over. Next on First Take y’all.”
“Turn the 6 upside down it’s a 9 now,” a social media user commented.
Honestly, these reactions aren’t surprising at all.
Bronny was selected by the Lakers with the 55th pick in this year’s NBA Draft. A large portion of the sports world is convinced he got drafted strictly because he’s the son of LeBron James.
From a production standpoint, Bronny didn’t have a great season at USC. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. To be fair, he helped out his stock at the NBA Combine.
Only time will tell if Bronny can develop into a serviceable NBA player. What we don’t need, however, is more time to see that people will be judging every move he makes as a rookie.
