UConn is doing everything in its power to keep head coach Dan Hurley.
According to The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, UConn’s latest contract offer to Hurley would make him one of the three highest-paid coaches in the country, behind Kansas head coach Bill Self and Arkansas head coach John Calipari.
Goodman also sees it as “50-50” on whether he heads to the NBA or stays at UConn.

Hurley is expected to meet with Lakers general manager and vice president Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss on Friday in California, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Lakers are also preparing a massive long-term contract for Hurley as they’ve zeroed in on him to be their next head coach.
This would be a massive get for the Lakers if they’re able to close the deal on him. Hurley has led UConn to back-to-back national championships and is considered the best coach in college basketball.
He’s been at UConn for the last six seasons, compiling a 141-58 record. He’s also had stints at Rhode Island and Wagner.
These next 24 hours are going to get fairly nerve-wracking for both Lakers fans and UConn fans. Let’s see what happens.
