Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is facing a lot of backlash this weekend because of comments he made about Sean “Diddy” Combs in the past. Let’s just say it’s not a good look for the four-time NBA champion.
Combs was arrested on Monday in New York City. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Unsurprisingly, he pleaded not guilty to these charges in federal court this week. Prosecutors claim that “Diddy” has been involved in an organization that engages in sex trafficking, kidnapping and other horrible acts since 2008.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said he was disappointed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for pursing what he believe is an “unjust prosecution.”
So, how does James factor into all of this? Fans found an old video of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer saying, “Ain’t no party like a Diddy party.”
After hearing about the charges that Combs is facing, it’s safe to say that remark from James has aged poorly.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens actually called out James on social media this weekend. She wants him to break his silence and offer some type of comment on Combs’ arrest.
“Is Lebron James going to weigh in on his friend’s ‘freak offs’? I mean we hear from ‘the king’ on virtually every political issue so this seems like an odd one to stay quiet about,” Owens wrote on X.
James has not responded to this post from Owens.
We’ll see if James addresses this comment or chooses to ignore it.
