Cameron Brink upgraded to doubtful for matchup against Liberty

July 26, 2025 by Silver Screen And Roll

WNBA: JUN 09 Las Vegas Aces at Los Angeles Sparks

Cameron Brink is one step closer to making her 2025 debut with the Sparks.

Cameron Brink has spent the entire WNBA season recovering from the torn ACL she suffered last year.

The Sparks have never set a hard date on her return, but head coach Lynne Roberts mentioned that she was hopeful the team’s No. 2 pick from the 2024 WNBA Draft would be ready for play by the end of July.

Brink certainly seems to be heading in that direction with the team upgrading her from out to doubtful for Saturday’s road game against the Liberty.

This is the first time this year that Brink has not been ruled out for a WNBA contest.

Beyond Roberts’ comments, we’ve seen actions that indicate Brink’s return is nearing. During the Sparks’ current road trip, Brink was seen participating in shootaround and doing some five-on-five work.

While being listed as doubtful means we are unlikely to see Brink playing against the Liberty, it’s a step in the right direction.

After Saturday’s game in New York, the Sparks will have two days off before taking on the Aces at home on Tuesday.

If there are no setbacks, it’s possible Brink can make her season debut in Los Angeles early next week if she doesn’t do so against the Liberty.

Brink only played in 12 games last year, but she instantly made an impact.

She started in each contest she participated in and was averaging 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. If she can sustain those numbers, that would make her one of the best rim protectors in the WNBA.

Once Brink does return, the Sparks will have a clean injury report for the first time this season. It’s always good to be healthy, but having all their players back at this juncture of the season would be perfect timing for Los Angeles.

They are currently on a three-game winning streak and just a game and a half outside of a playoff position.

With Brink back, the Sparks can see just how good they can be and try to finish the second half of the season strong.
