Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, had a rough start to his professional basketball career after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. The 20-year-old appears to be finding his feet now, though, as he has impressed in the G League for the South Bay Lakers.
Through nine regular season games, Bronny James is averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game and looks to be playing with a lot of confidence at the moment. He has so much belief in himself at this point that he even told The Athletic’s Joe Vardon that he could get by LeBron if they played 1-on-1.
“I can definitely get by him,” Bronny James told Vardon.
Before LeBron went down with a groin injury during a game against the Boston Celtics, he was playing better defense than he had in ages. Even stars weren’t able to go by the 40-year-old all that often, so you wouldn’t fancy Bronny’s chances.
It’s great that Bronny James is being so confident in his abilities, though. He could have very easily gone into a shell and never gotten out of it with all the negativity that came his way during the Summer League and preseason. The Lakers were even blasted for selecting the former USC guard with the 55th pick and he hasn’t let all that get to him.

It’s still too early to say if Bronny James will be a good NBA player, but he has certainly improved a lot in these last few months. That’s a testament to all the work he has put in behind the scenes and I’m certain he won’t be slacking off in the future either.
