All eyes were on Bronny James when the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Houston Rockets in the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday night. Unfortunately for the rookie, he didn’t live up to the hype.
James finished Friday’s game with eight points, five rebounds and two steals. That might seem like a respectable stat line, but it’s important to note that he went 3 of 14 from the field.
Overall, the Lakers struggled as a team. The boxscore was indicative of that since the Rockets won 99-80.
Bronny spoke to the media after the Lakers got dismantled by the Rockets. The former USC guard made it clear that he’s open to playing in the G-League this upcoming fall.
“I’m just looking forward to any basketball I play – no matter what level I’m playing at,” Bronny said, via ESPN.
As for his rough start to the Summer League, the 55th pick claims he’s just in a shooting slump.
“I just feel like I’m in a little slump right now,” Bronny told reporters.
If Bronny wants to play for the Lakers in the regular season, he’ll need to snap out of this slump very soon.
For now, it seems like Bronny needs to spend a lot of time in the G-League so he can develop his game.
