With Austin Reaves’ brother Spencer Reaves expecting a child, the Lakers guard pulled off the gender reveal by wearing pink colored sneakers against the Pacers.
Gender reveals are a common occurrence and have been done in plenty of ways, but Austin Reaves might have pulled off the coolest one to date.
For the Lakers’ matchup against the Pacers, he revealed the gender of his brother, Spencer Reaves, child by wearing pink colored sneakers during the game.
Congrats @SpencerReaves31!

The kicks Austin was wearing were the Rigorer AR2 ‘Valentine’s Day,’ which is Austin’s signature shoe. During the game, Spencer was just as surprised as the rest of us and shared his enthusiasm on Twitter.
Appreciate you! We didn’t know Austin would be so pumped to do this. He’s known for weeks. Maybe he got Luka on board as well with his shoes tonight https://t.co/dNj5z9ITc0

Spencer is also a professional basketball player. He plays in Germany for Mitteldeutscher, a team that plays in the Bundesliga.
As Spencer mentioned in his tweet, Luka Dončić was also wearing bright pink sneakers in this game. The Lakers star didn’t say whether he did it in solidarity with Austin, like Spencer suggested, or if it was just a coincidence. Regardless, there was a lot of pink with the purple and gold in Indy.

What makes this moment even cooler is that Austin had a great game while wearing his pink kicks. He exploded in the second quarter, scoring 15 points, and ended the night with 24 points while having five assists and four rebounds in the win.
The game was one of the most thrilling road wins of the season, capped off with a LeBron James buzzer-beating tip-in.
It’s pretty cool that this game is now a part of a person’s life story, thanks to Austin wearing the sneakers as part of a gender reveal.
When the child is old enough, they can watch it, see how well their uncle played in the game, and hear this reveal being discussed on television.
So, congrats to Spencer and his partner, Kaci Mack Reaves, on their baby. What a creative way for Austin to get involved in the celebration.
