The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make any huge adjustments to their roster this offseason, but they did draft Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James.
Bronny received a four-year, $7.9 million contract from the Lakers. The plan is for them to develop him into a respectable combo guard.
It’ll be interesting to see how the veterans on the Lakers handle Bronny being on the roster. For now, it’s been fairly quiet in Laker Land.
Over the weekend, however, Lakers guard Austin Reaves offered his thoughts on Bronny joining the squad.
Reaves didn’t have a ton to say about Bronny’s game. That being said, he expects the youngster to get the best out of LeBron.
“For LeBron to just put himself in position to play with his son, it’s special,” Reaves said. “I know he will be motivated to play at his peak level.”
It sounds like Reaves is OK with Bronny being part of Los Angeles’ backcourt.
We already know that Lakers head coach JJ Redick is high on Bronny. Prior to the Summer League, he raved about the former USC guard’s skillset.
“For us prioritizing player development, we view Bronny as case study No. 1,” Redick said. “His base level of feel, athleticism, point of attack defender, shooting, passing – there’s a lot to like about his game.”
Only time will tell if Bronny can become a role player for the Lakers.
