The Los Angeles Lakers will be buyers at the NBA trade deadline and Anthony Davis knows exactly what they need.
Davis told ESPN’s Shams Charania that he’d like the Lakers to get a center before the deadline.
“I think we need another big,” Davis said. “I feel like I’ve always been at my best when I’ve been a forward and having a big out there. We know it worked when we won a championship with Javale (McGee) and Dwight (Howard) at the five and I’m at the four.”

The Lakers are 24-18 through their first 42 games, good for fifth in the Western Conference. They’re three games behind the Denver Nuggets for fourth in the conference and four games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for third.
Davis is having another strong season, averaging 25.6 points, and 11.8 rebounds per game. He does it all in the paint but wants a center that can give him some more favorable matchups.
He helped the Lakers win an NBA title during the 2019-20 season and wants to win another this year.
LeBron James is also looking for another NBA title even though he has won four during his career. He’s looking for the “one for the thumb” as some others call it.
Even though James is 40, he’s still having another great season, averaging 23.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game.
The Lakers have won two in a row and are fresh off a 117-96 win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday. They’ll try to make it three in a row when they play the Golden State Warriors at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Let’s see if Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka listens to Davis about what the team needs heading into the trade deadline on February 6.
